Entanglement

Series of monoprints taken directly from spider webs

Taken directly from cobwebs, this series of prints explores the intricate nature of spider webs and their symbolism in Native American culture as objects of protection for infants. Due to the complex designs they weave, spiders are seen as symbols of creativity. The process of obsessively recording these webs was used as a way of overcoming my arachnophobia and preparing for motherhood.
