COVID and new maternal responsibilities made it difficult to get into the studio at times. Early on in the pandemic, the media reported stories of wild animals reclaiming territory and wondering urban streets due to the lack of a human presence. In my absence, my studio has also become a haven for insects such as spiders. These drawings document house spiders that have been captured and entwined by the longer-legged cellar spiders and left as presents around my studio. The spiders are claustrophobically encased; a metaphor perhaps for how many of us are feeling whilst confined to our homes.
